The Ontario Hockey League is preparing to release an ad campaign aimed at attracting hunters and anglers to the province.
The advertisement is being directed at both men and women and includes the phrase “Hunting is fun, it’s competitive and it’s a job” and includes clips of hunters enjoying the outdoors.
“Hunting and angling are both great jobs,” said Ontario Minister of Labour Brad Duguid.
“They provide good pay and good health benefits and also provide great opportunities to be involved in our community.”
Hunting jobs are a popular pastime in Canada, with hunters and trappers accounting for over two-thirds of all jobs in the country, according to the Canadian Association of Professional Hunters.
The job is a key skill in the hunting and trapping industry.
Hunting, trapping and other recreational activities have been the industry’s top draw in Canada since the 1970s, with annual revenue from hunting and trapping exceeding $11 billion in 2015.
