The job search industry is still a small, but growing business, with a population of 1.7 million.
There are more than 40,000 job seekers across Australia, and the industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 12.4 per cent from 2017 to 2021, according to the Australian Industry Group (AIG).
This growth is attributed to a number of factors including increased job opportunities in new technologies, a surge in online recruitment, and a rise in job opportunities for people aged between 40 and 50.
But what is your job search experience?
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) collects information on the characteristics of people who are actively looking for work and their occupations, including their job search skills.
It can also provide data on job seekers’ income and other data about their financial situation.
For more information on job search, you can find a complete list of the Australian Job Search Association’s official publications and resources on job searching.
Job seekers need to be able to answer the following questions to help the ABS determine whether they are an active job seeker:Is there a particular type of job that interests you?
For example, if you are a job hunting coaching coach, are you looking for a specific type of position or career path?
Are you looking to get out of school?
Are there any career opportunities in that field?
Are the skills and abilities you have that are relevant to your job in this area?
Are your skills and talents being recognised in this industry?
Are they being used in your role?
The ABS has a number work experience guidelines that can help guide you through the job search process.
To get an idea of how long you are likely to be looking for your first job, you should check your employment history.
